September 2024 - Brookmans Park

CAPTAINS REPORT

A great turn out of 24 golfers attended the September event at Brookmans Park, a course that the KGS hasn’t visited for a good few years. Within these numbers we welcomed new members Simon Burrows and Dan Ausano, who have both been regular guests this year so it was great to welcome them to the mad house!

It was great to welcome guests Ash Jones (the last event he is attending as a guest as it's now a compulsory join) and Mike Fisher who returned as a guest of Mitch.

Thanks to Pete Ibbetson and Martin Forsyth for sponsoring this year’s event that saw us playing for the August Bowl (team event) and the Winter Four Ball which was an event that to this day no bugger knew what the rules were, what the competition was and how the winners won. Neil Mathews (vice captain) who’s brain child this was, tried to explain it, but I think the group decided it was better not to know what the hell he was talking about.

Winners of the August Bowl with a team score of 82 Pts were Digger, Jim Rowe and Dan Ausano

 The winners with our generous sponsors plus Jim and Digger with their winnings (minus Dan Ausano, who they say didn’t contribute a lot).

Winners of the Winterfour Ball according to Neil were Digger and Mike Howells with a score of 160 (don’t ask what this means and how it was calculated). To make it more confusing they won on count back from Dan Ausano and Pete Ibbetson on the same score. The Winter fourball and Neils rules are the main reason the golf society doesn’t have an appeals process.
