2023 Captain's Report - John O'Gaunt

Well 17 brave souls took on John O’Gaunt 36, with 5 others joining the magnificent 17 for the afternoon round.

I had not realised the course was built for a lefty but Digger followed up his hole in one from 2019 by winning the day. Well done Mr Dollin.

Sadly the captain carded a very poor 14 points in the afternoon. His excuse being that the violent conduct of Mr Westcott ( who sent the afore mentioned captain's trolley on a crash course up a slope that resulted in his clubs being dumped far and wide) caused so much stress he could not concentrate on his golf!

Other notable events include the fact that Mr Forsyth spent so much time in the bunkers he is changing his sand iron for a bucket and spade. Jim Rowe was no longer the holder of the longest drive as Mike Taylor travelled all the way from a village near Stratford upon Avon. Well done Mike.

Finally one of our guests, Tim Moll, not only took the guest prize but he very nearly won our “hole in one” competition with his ball ending less than a foot from the hole.

Tim mentioned that although he would have liked the car the thought of the cost of a hole in one meant he was pleased it missed.

At least it only rained a little bit. Oh well, on to Mid Herts in August.

Captain Roy.
